Hey Revolutionaries,
Got a couple of good ones for you today – different techniques and different messages but as usual, both very powerful and peppered with dissent…pun (as you’ll see below) intended.
This first one is a form of Detournement or Culture Jamming – basically taking an image or idea that we’re all really familiar with and changing it to showcase an absurdity, a message, or in this case both.
As Zack Malitz says on the “Revolution toolbox” site, Beautiful Trouble,
“Subversive and marginalized ideas can spread contagiously by reappropriating artifacts drawn from popular media and injecting them with radical connotations.”
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, The Beatles and Lt. John Pike, of pepper spray fame.
