Some people are upset with me because of my outrage is not in lockstep with the contrived, outrage du jour of the mainstream. I am a contrarian. I recoil instinctively from the herd. In a time where the hive mind has never been so terrifyingly on display, it seems we need more independent voices, not fewer. By rewarding the conformist with dopamine and hollow “likes”, and punishing the dissenter, we encourage groupthink, breed herd morality, and are encouraging mob rule.
