Tamer Turkmani

A Syrian activist, “Tamer Turkmani” managed to document and archive the names and photographs of thousands of Syrian victims who died under torture or executed in Assad’s prisons.

After four years of voluntary work, Turkmani documented the names of 17,000 detainees, both females and males through individual efforts, such as communicating with victims’ families, local Facebook pages and news stories.

Turkmani said that among those names were people who were killed in summary executions in farmland, some of whom died as they passed intelligence barriers, as well as those who were killed under torture in various ways.

Tamer Turkmani, from the city of Homs, began to document the violations of the Assad regime against the Syrian people by the end of 2015. Earlier, he announced the documenting of more than 250 thousand victims with names and photos out of 900 thousand ones been killed by the regime and allied militias.
