As the less attractive, non-intoxicating sister of marijuana, hemp rarely gets the political or social attention it deserves. But there are some hemp events happening in this week’s Cannabis Calendar, giving you a chance to show the Jan Brady of the marijuana movement some love.

Colorado Rocky Mountain High Singles is putting on a meet-and-greet for pot-friendly singles at Sushi Hai tonight at 6:30 p.m., where participants can write their favorite strains on a name tag for a possible “strain pairing” over dinner and drinks. Because it’s at a public restaurant, no consumption of marijuana is allowed. The event is for members only, but you can join for free and learn more here.

As part of international hemp week, the National Cannabis Chamber of Commerce will host Hemp the Movement — a panel discussion and networking event for people from all sides of the hemp industry to learn about its future markets — at Green Labs on Wednesday, June 3. Check-in begins at 6 p.m., with keynote speakers, question-and-answer panels and meet-and-greets to follow. The event is free to attend, but you must register in advance. Bar Standard will host High Social Happy Hour by Blazer — a happy hour for the cannabis industry — on Friday, June 5, at 6 p.m. The free, 21+ networking social will have a pitch element for pot entrepreneurs and possible investors, and dressing up is encouraged. For more information, click here.

Enjoy high art on a summer night with Light Up Night Out: A Friday Night Art Walk “Rollin” Party on Friday, June 5, from 6 to 11 p.m. For $75, you will be led by a concierge through four art galleries in the Art District on Santa Fe in a limo bus stocked with craft beer, wine, munchies and other 4/20 party favors. Click here to learn more. 21+

Greenhouse University is offering its Grow 101: The Basics of Growing Indoors class on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at Grow Space Storage, located at 4985 Colorado Boulevard. The ninety-minute class will cover plant biology, lighting and grow systems, and harvest planning. Though the class is focused on cannabis, the primary discussion can apply to many other plants grown indoors. Learn more here.

The First Annual Hemp Farmers’ Market will visit Denver on Saturday, June 6, at the Greenhouse, 6565 East Evans Avenue. The emporium runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature live music, food trucks and dozens of hemp-product vendors. The-family friendly event is free to attend. Click here for more information.
